When I was a kid, we had a Lhasa Apso who was my constant pal.
In my memory, he was pretty well-behaved on our family trips.
He loved to hop through the snow, which we never got in Bay Area suburbs.
We encountered moderate snow in Portland, Oregon, where my mother’s family lived.
My grandparents had no pets but tolerated our dog when we came to visit. I don't remember seeing either of them petting him, but one night, we caught my grandfather giving Lhasa the rind off the smoked liverwurst. After that, Opa (born in Cologne, Germany) and Lhasa were friends.
One summer, while in summer school at El Portal (the county’s special ed school), I got to bring Lhasa to school for the day. It might have been the last day of the summer session because there was a barbeque, and Lhasa got a whole hamburger, which he was very excited about.
I have cats now, and they would just be traumatized by travel. But I miss them when I go walkabout.
I will be anxious to see the results of your travels... As you know, I don't get out much, but after this past weekend - we made it back home safely and in one piece- I have certainly learned that getting away from your comfort zone is, perhaps, the greatest source of inspiration:)
I've learned something about myself that's uncool: I no longer enjoy traveling. Hate flying, hate traffic, don't like hotels or staying with people, feel sad about leaving my pets and wildlife, find touring and line standing hard on my back. I'm reluctant to fully admit this to my poor husband but there it is. Traveling sucks.
If you and all your subscribers suddenly had a world of your own and could start it from scratch, and there were no interferences from malevolent beings (unless one or two happen to subscribe) and you had access to free energy (see UMASS AMHERST Generic Air Gen) - what would a society designed or emerged into organically by you and your subscribers look like? What form of governance/leadership would you have? If you have a diverse list of subscribers, would something never before done emerge?
I had made a comment but I didn't hit post first, instead I hit share to notes! (Now, I can't remember what I said!) I enjoyed reading your story about your mother! I can understand your situation. I've been there! I took care of my mom and my young son at the same time until she died! She was sick most of my life. I hope someone will care for me when I'm not able to care for myself! My son does take me to my appointments and does some chores for me. I do have some health issues. I am 74.
We had an amazing weekend, honestly... The best "Father's Day celebration I've ever been a part of... So here is a picture that will, soon enough, the accompanied by an Alice diary that will be titled "First Tastes of Freedom" - when Alice publishes the entry it will all make perfect sense. Thank you to everyone that participated in Open Mic weekend !

I love this :)
I live in a throbbing Canadian messopolis...next week with my family we venture to the north country...a painting and a few words will surely ensue
