I love your writing, David; but I must take issue with this statement: " Once you come to appreciate, at face value, everything that's going on around you and lose all sense of what you think and how you feel about it you begin to realize just how insignificant you really are in the general scheme of things."
It seems to me that, as we mature and become more in tune with nature, we should accept that we are all a vital part in Reality. Some may choose minor parts. Some choose leading roles. Regardless, when we are in the NOW, we can see how we fit in the puzzle. Long story longer - I do not feel insignificant when I look at the stars or when I consider the years they have been around, I feel I am part of it all and it feels sweet.
I have two granddaughters and two grandsons. One of each from each of my sons. They truly are a gift from God and a blessing to have and spend time with.
Lovely post. Don't we all get obsessed with our lists and plans (sigh) and you are quite right - they are worth abandoning in a heartbeat for spending time with the right people.

Fair enough, my friend.
“peace" wraps itself around you like your most favored blanket filled with holes you can't bring yourself to throw away.
This particular line is very meaningful. Lovely post David, especially how you describe your time spent with your granddaughters.
Thank you Ruth... They truly are my greatest joy:)
