I really like how this wraps everything up—it feels reflective, honest, and grounded. That Thoreau quote was the perfect touch to close out the season.
This has been a great series, very enjoyable David. I also find it wonderful that when we are 'observational' about things and living in the moment that the lessons we learn are truly the ones that are there for us and not necessarily the ones we expect to learrn. I feel that the journey over these 13 weeks has really reflected that. Thanks for helping me 'get through' winter.
Thank you, April. It was quite a journey, but I'm glad to have done it- I have a whole lot more respect now for the brave souls that live inside the Arctic Circle :)
David, I had silently committed to loving winter in a deep and appreciative way (and very unlike me), and your entry helps me to be that much more ready for next year. It’s fun to think I’ll carry this with me until next winter. Loved what you shared about worms too. I had wondered but never looked.
Thank you for the kind words... It's interesting how you learn things you weren't trying to learn while you're busy learning something else haha I was amazed to find out what worms endure during the winter. Who knew?
I concur completely with you. Give me a window seat with a fire blazing in the fireplace. To be honest, I’m in Florida. Our lows recently have been in the sixties with highs in the mid eighties. I did grownup in the Midwest, but in 1975 moved to Arizona and never looked back. I’m hoping it warms there soon so Miss Alice can tell us of her adventures.

Thank you, Jonathan, I appreciate the comment. It turns out winter is a great opportunity for a little self-reflection.

Ha, it’s all exactly that. They really do. It’s incredible

In answer to the question of what I do next, it is unanimous. The Alice diaries must return. Ha ha, thank you for the comment.
So, what's next?
