Thank you Karen- I have enjoyed writing them, but I'm looking forward to not having to freeze my butt off doing field research haha

"It's not how we spend our day that matters nearly so much as it is how we remember having spent it." I love this sentence David because it provokes thought. The memories you have of your long friendship with Vassar will also be a gift you carry with you until it is your 'time' as well. Thank you for another lovely post I did so enjoy the image in my mind of Alice listening to the bird song so intently, she knows better than we do that Spring is in the air!

Thank you, April, and yes, she does. And it is a Bittersweet thing losing a long-time friend because we selfishly want them to stick around to keep us company rather than saying our goodbyes and letting them go when they are no longer able- mentally or physically- to maintain a happy, healthy, and productive meaningful life. I'm happy for him that he's no longer trying to fight a disease he never had a chance of beating.

Sorry about the death of your best friend. I’m sure he is looking down with pride as you did this last week’s journal. Have a Happy Birthday, David.

Thank you Monica- it was an amazing birthday, spending time with family and eating far too much amazing food :) and if he is looking down on me, he will be proud but he'll also be scolding me because that's just the way he was haha

Thank you Bliss. It is hard, but I'm still blessed with two ginormous canine writing partners haha they are far less particular but they are still good company.

Thank you Ruth. It was- they took me to a fancy restaurant and back home for decadent homemade cake and some quality time with the kids and the Grands and my new little great grand :)

That sounds lovely. There’s nothing sweeter than time with family, especially grandchildren. To be blessed with a great grandchild is especially rewarding.

Happy birthday David. I hope the girls have planned something special for you. But I am so sorry for the loss of your best friend. I lost mine too, with no warning, last Hurricane Milton. It sucks. And they can never be replaced. Ever.

Thank you my friend... And you are right, they can never be replaced. But as I'm sure you have experienced over the years since, they never completely leave your head sometimes you feel like they're still looking over your shoulder telling you you could have written this or that paragraph better :)
