Not Sold In Stores

Dog hair; it's what's fur breakfast

There was a time in my life when I had nice stuff

Nothing fancy or expensive, but decent enough

Hand-me-downs, trinkets, an antique or two

They made this house Home, at least in my view

My bed so amazing she has her own name

Now rests atop chewed box springs, head hung in shame

The floor around her, once shiny and new

Is tattered and flayed and needs a redo

Even the walls had nice paper and paint

Windows had blinds and screens, and now they cain't

I know it's crazy (it's what I've been called)

My giant dogs built me the Taj Mahal

Clean windows and floors might be joyful things

But slobber and hair are the joys dogs bring

Unconditional love and lifelong friends

Is a match from the heavens that won't end

It may have been hard to part with my stuff

But the space that's been cleared just isn't enough

To squeeze in all the love, drool, and mayhem

But my life is complete living with them

It's just stuff, after all, I can buy more

But giant dog love ain't sold in no store
