"Sometimes it’s like ancestors whispering amongst the dirt you walk in—you can hear the whispering—but it isn’t so easy to find where it originated and when it started, but you feel it in your bones."
Beautiful tribute to your mom. It has often amazed me how things end up lining up unexpectedly. You were a good son. I’m glad you had time to spend with her.
Thank you for your kind words Heidi-this type of writing for me is sometimes hard, but every time I finish one I feel better and more confident about doing them. Forcing yourself to relive your good bad and ugly of life maybe cathartic, but shaping it in just the right way to both inform and inspire is pretty darn exhausting:)
Thank you, David. You’ve done your homework as a writer, as a memoirist because my experience as a reader is also cathartic. I hope you are giving yourself a rest and will write more before too long. Thank you so much.
It does, and perhaps the greatest benefit of having relived those memories while putting this all together is the humble reminder that, even for all the bad times that come along with living, the joy of it still outweighs any downsides that, like anything, eventually passes while making you better for the lessons you learned along the way.
"She said I was wasting a great deal of time, energy, and emotion beating myself up about something I never had any control over and that I needed to let it go. I share it here because, for those of you who have already experienced this, you know exactly what I'm talking about." -yep
Thank you Jenny-it was hard to write but once I started I had to see it through and oh my God I'm so happy to see your name in here! I hope you are doing well and coming back to us soon
A good job, sir.
Thank you,
Kathryn
I'm sure this was a difficult story to tell but I hope it helps.
Thank you, my friend, but it needed to be done... And now I can have my life back:)

Beautiful storytelling, great reading on how to build a memoir and a life. Thank you, David.

A strong family bond you’ll never regret. Your appreciation and love for them must bring peace to you.

More than just a skill, Dave. I'm inclined to think of it as "God-given", simply not found laying about in a house.
This one, all four parts, took a lot out of my old ass but thank you-I'm glad I did it. :)
This is beautiful Dave. Sad but beautiful.

Yeah I've been away for a while. Busy busy. Hoping to be back soon.
Looking forward to it… this place is better for you being here :)
It's the tone, it's the voice, it's the authority....there is a deep authenticity in these words and it's delightful to see.
Thank you for your comment, I appreciate it - and you - very very much.
